Pathway through Francis King Park

Many trails lead through the mature forest of Francis/King Regional Park near Victoria, offering hikes of varying lengths.

Trails were cut by members of the Junior Natural History Society under the leadership of Freeman King. Over the years these have been modified, renamed and are well signposted.

One of the shortest and prettiest of these is aptly named the Moss Rock Trail. Visitors need to stay on the path to protect these delicate little plants.

Centennial Trail provides a good walk of more than an hour, and follows the perimeter of the park.

Most trails lead back to the staffed Nature House, which provides an interesting display related to the flora and fauna of the park, and is a must-see for kids of all ages.

An important feature of Francis/King Regional Park is the boardwalk, specifically constructed in 1981, which allows visitors in wheelchairs to access and enjoy the park.

From Victoria, drive out to Burnside Road West, then follow Prospect Lake Road and Munn Road (about 7 km).
